Scripture for Prayer

Personalize Scripture For Prayer

It all started 1996. Over the years as a believer I began a practice I did not know was so powerful. Yet as time passed I began to not do it as often. It was not until recently where my pastor used THE key scripture I used to do this with and that is Deut. 28:1-14.

What is it that I did? I personalized it as I prayed it. I made it as if I was declaring it not just reading it. This has proven to be very powerful in my life and family.

So let me share what this would look like. I will share a PORTION for you to compare and then share the entire thing personalized. My hope is that this can help someone else. Ready? here it the compare.

Actual Scripture

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God: “Blessed [shall] you [be] in the city, and blessed [shall] you [be] in the country.

Deut. 28:1-3- NKJV

Personalized

Now it shall come to pass, because I diligently obey the voice of You the LORD MY God, to observe carefully all your commandments which YOU command ME today, that the YOU, LORD MY God will set ME high above all nations of the earth. “And all these blessings shall come upon ME and overtake ME, because I obey you, the voice of the LORD MY God: “Blessed [shall] I [be] in the city, and blessed [shall] I [be] in the country.

Deut. 28:1-3- NKJV – Personalized

A great practice I have had over the years is to personalize scripture for prayer. Here is my PRIME scripture I do this with.

Doing this not only with this scripture but with other promise scriptures has proven to be an amazing, empowering thing. When I began doing this in 1996 I began to see changes happen in my life from debt freedom to meeting the one who has carried the title of my spouse for now 22 years.

To get you started here is the entire Deut. 22:1-14 personalized (using NKJV version). There is enough other preachers sharing the interpretation of each item in this scripture out there – that you can do as you progress but this is your start point. The other part is that we removed the numbers so that you can not focus on that but solely the promise!

“Lord it will now come to pass, Because I diligently obey you, and your voice LORD My God, to observe carefully all Your commandments which You command me today, that You My LORD, My God will set me high above all nations of the earth. “And all these blessings shall come upon me and overtake me, because I obey you and your voice LORD My God: “Blessed [shall] I [be] in the city, and blessed [shall] I [be] in the country. “Blessed [shall be] the fruit of my body, the produce of my ground and the increase of my herds, the increase of my cattle and the offspring of my flocks. “Blessed [shall be] my basket and my kneading bowl. “Blessed [shall] I [be] when I come in, and blessed [shall] I [be] when I go out. “You LORD will cause my enemies who rise against me to be defeated before my face; they shall come out against me one way and flee before me seven ways. “You, My LORD will command the blessing on me in my storehouses and in all to which I set my hand, and you will bless me in the land which you My LORD my God has given me. ” LORD you will establish me as a holy people to yourself, just as you have given to me, because I  keep Your commandments and walk in your ways. “Then all peoples of the earth shall see that I am called by your name, and they shall be afraid of me. “And You Lord, will grant me plenty of goods, in the fruit of my body, in the increase of my livestock, and in the produce of my ground, in the land of which you LORD swore to my fathers to give me. “You LORD will open to me your good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to my land in its season, and to bless all the work of my hand. I shall lend to many nations, but I shall not borrow. “You Lord, will make me the head and not the tail; I shall be above only, and not be beneath, because I heed your commandments LORD My God, which you command me today, and are careful to observe [them]. “So I shall not turn aside from any of the words which you command me this day, [to] the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
